Ciao - Italia 90' Mechanical Watch
Nessun Dorma, Toto Schillaci, Gazza's tears!
For men of a certain age, just the mention of Italia 90 will evoke almost crippling nostalgia. The stadiums, kits and colours blew our little minds. It was the dawn of modern football and if you're from England, a time that united the nation in our favourite pastime of glorious failure.
One thing I love about this watch is that any modern-day version would be made of plastic with a cheap battery-powered movement. This piece not only has a hand-wound movement but Breguet hands that a most feel like a personal insult to today's mass production.
A true collector's piece emblazoned with beloved mascot 'Ciao' continuing to confuse us as to what the hell he is, but looking great all the same.
