Breitling Venus
During the 1940s and early 50's this classic Chronograph design was seen in almost every swiss watchmaker's collection, most notably the Patek Philippe with their ref:1436 & Audemars Piguet's 1940's model which inspired this year's [Re]master01.
Let me make it clear...This watched has been worn and worn well. While a lot of watch dealers steer clear of certain aspects this watch has aesthetically, I look at them as a part of its history.
You just know it's got a story to tell; The beautifully patinated dial gives it that deep coppery hue wherein certain lights the blue and red fonts of the Tachymeter pop right at you. Then there's the chippings at the back where the previous owner had been prying the case back open ritualistically for god knows how many years.
I can see why they were so determined to look into the guts of this watch, since I've had it in my possession, that's mostly all I have done. Just staring into the complex innards has made me fall in love with this piece.
In the past 80-odd year this has been in existence, WW2 had ended, the Iron curtain rose the fell, Man bounced all over the moon. All these events and changes in our world, but this watch is a constant. Who knows the journey it's taken to get here, but what we do know is that you can be the next chapter in it's long and historic journey.
